Attendance
Wessex MAT Attendance Policy
At Puddletown First school we believe that regular school attendance is crucial in supporting the best possible outcomes for your child. We will keep you informed of your child's attendance percentage on a termly basis and will work in partnership with you to support regular attendance.
Illness/Medical and Dental appointments
When a child is unable to attend school due to illness or medical/dental appointments, please notify the school office by phone or email by 9.00am. School will follow up on any child that is absent without notification.
Late arrival at school
Arrivals after 8.45 will be considered late.
Leave of Absence During Term Time
From 1st September 2013, Government attendance regulations removed reference to family holiday and extended leave as well as the statutory threshold of ten school days. The amendments made it clear that headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. Headteachers determine the number of school days a child can be away from school if the leave is granted. We cannot agree a leave of absence for holidays during school time.
You will need to complete a leave of absence form for any request which is attached below.
Useful Information
Below are some links or documents that may be useful to parents. Each year, the school sends out facts and figures and a letter to all parents on the importance of attendance (attendance for all). You can also find these documents below.
